Wireless Card

Postby oddyseys on Thu Oct 23, 2008 3:49 pm

I've just received an old Dell Latitude laptop (has a 1.2 GHz celeron processor) and it has PCMCIA slots on the side. I would like to find a compatible card to work with Ubuntu 8.04 (which will most likely be upgraded to 8.10 in the future). Are there any suggestions as to a card to buy or a good place to research cards. I've already looked at the ubuntu HCL site and I'm not finding much to help me.

Thanks,
Jim

I bought a DYNEX card from Best Buy and use wicd as the network manager in Ubuntu 8.10. It will not connect to my secured network but will connect to unsecured wireless networks around me. I might fiddle around with WifiRadar and see if that works for using my own network. And I currently pay for Cox and have Alltel for my cell phone but thanks for the response.
